Green Smoothie

Recipe adapted from www.food52.com, thanks to Agri-Cultura Network as part of Farms, Films, Food on May 17, 2017.

If you drink this green smoothie first thing in the morning, you’ve just started your day with 2 fruit servings and 1 vegetable serving. Plus, berries are rich in antioxidants, and spinach is a known nutritional powerhouse, complete with fiber, lycopene, and tons of vitamins. Any and all variations on this recipe are welcome. Try it with different types of fruit available in Northern New Mexico like peaches, apples or plums.

The Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 banana
  • 1 handful fresh, local spinach
  • 3 handfuls of local, fresh or frozen berries (blackberries or raspberries)
  • 1.5 cups almond milk
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon, ground

PREPARATION

  1. Put the spinach and milk in the bottom of blender. Add in berries, cinnamon, and banana. Blend and drink!
