October 8, 2021 @ 9:00 am - 1:00 pm

LET’S MAKE ROCK STRUCTURES!

Learn to build rock structures to armor soil that is in highly erodible areas. Quivira’s Morika Hensley, will help participants identify erosion features on the landscape, select appropriate erosion control structures, and increase participants’ ability to build erosion control structures through hands-on experience.

Send your questions to education@quiviracoalition.org.

Morika Vorenberg Hensley has been learning about soil health and hydrology since 2018, when she attended her first Quivira workshop. Since then she has had the opportunity to expand her experience through numerous projects in Northern New Mexico with Quivira and the Santa Fe Watershed Association. Mori earned her B.S. and M.S. degrees in Environmental Sciences with a concentration in Ecology and Conservation from Emory University, where she primarily focused on human-wildlife conflict in Ladakh, India. She also has a background in community conservation, religion and ecology, and Tibetan Studies, merging these interests as a Fulbright-Nehru student researcher in India after completing her Master’s. She is a third-generation New Mexican devoted to discovering and embodying a path of place-based ecocultural stewardship, and is excited to continue learning from and helping our fragile, beloved soil.
