2022 NM Climate Masters Course
March 23 @ 5:30 pm - 8:00 pm
An event every week that begins at 5:30 pm on Wednesday, repeating until April 13, 2022
The Santa Fe Watershed Association and the City of Santa Fe are thrilled to offer the 2022 NM Climate Masters course! Our fabulous instructors Julie Hasty and Esha Chiocchio will guide students through ten classes between February 23 and April 13, where students will learn about the various local and global facets of climate change from experts and from each other. Additionally, students will have the opportunity to hike into the Upper Santa Fe River Watershed (which is closed to the public). Class space is limited, so reserve your spot today!
Climate Masters was developed at the University of Oregon Climate Leadership Initiative to provide approximately 30 hours of programming over a 10-week time frame. The curriculum focuses primarily on climate change and the locally relevant interrelated connections between water, soil, food production, consumption/waste, forest management, transportation, energy and the way we live our lives. Weekly, expert guest speakers will provide in-depth presentations in each of the topic areas. Participants will also be taken on a field trip into the Upper Santa Fe Watershed to witness first-hand the efforts already underway to protect our forest and water supply.
Once the course is completed, students are required to engage in 30 hours of climate-related community service to receive the title of “Climate Master.”
The cost of $25 includes all presentations and field trips. Scholarships are available for those who need them.
Wednesday evening classes will be held at the Randall Davey Audubon Center classroom from February 23rd to April 13th at 5:30 PM to 8:00 PM. However, there will be no class on March 16th for Spring Break. Field trips are scheduled for March 26th, April 2nd, and April 9th.
**Participants will be required to show proof of fully completed Covid-19 vaccination series. Masks will be required when indoors.
